Y2kati

y2kati is the techno form of Jaroška’s creative universe – a system-focused project driven by pressure, movement, and detail.
Created by Deividas Jaroška, a Vilnius-based producer, DJ, and co-founder of Gars Records, y2kati is the alias where his wider club language becomes more mechanical, bass-heavy, and futurist. It is not a nostalgia project, even when it touches early digital-era pressure, Y2K memory, or trance-coded electricity. Instead, y2kati treats those signals as unfinished technology: fragments of a half-built future rewired through Detroit-lineage respect, Vilnius underground energy, hard-groove rhythm, and the physical needs of the dancefloor.

The sound is direct but not generic. Sub pressure, low-end detail, rolling percussion, controlled instability, and machine-like movement sit at the centre of the project. y2kati tracks are made for DJs who want function with identity: music that blends, pushes, and works on a system, but still carries a world of its own.
Across Gars Records, y2kati has moved from the earlier Mad Jester Of Groove phase into a more focused and mature techno language. “Steve In A Happy Carusel” on the Gars Of Gars LP, the y2kati remix of Phase Line’s “Cultivating Jungle,” the CMRK “Spit On Trends” remix, and KIPRONNO’s “Sink In” remix point toward the current form: bass-heavy, driving, detailed, physical, and slightly unstable in the right places.

As part of the Gars Records ecosystem, y2kati reflects the label’s wider belief in underground music as a living system rather than a content cycle. This is club music built from the margins: respectful of techno’s roots, resistant to clean platform formulas, and committed to the strange discipline of making tracks that move bodies while still leaving a mark.
